Hackathon / Learn to Code Concurrent Activities

<!--

Select one of the two streams to participate in or spend a bit of time doing both. All participants are welcome, whether you’re a policy expert, a software developer or an interested citizen. This is a day of learning and sharing and it will give you a chance to see, work on and discuss open data in action.

Hackathon

Work with a team to solve real problems with open data (and scraped data) – coming alone? We will help match you up with a team. This is not a competitive space, you can work in pairs or large groups – the focus is on learning and building, not winning. Anything goes from analysing data and creating visualizations to developing a mobile or web app.

Community Action Plan (CAP)
No technical skills required – just a desire to solve or improve the well-being of your community. The day will be spent reviewing data availability, analysing the root causes of issues, brainstorming for ideas and developing an action plan (what to do, who to do) as a follow-up to the conference. Groups will receive support from a facilitator to help focus and organize the discussion and to create challenges for tech teams to pick up and work on throughout the year.

Mentors and facilitators will be available to help you throughout the day. Whether this is your first hack day or your one hundred and first hack day, it’s a safe and welcoming space for you. We also encourage folks to bring their technology - ie. laptops, tablets. Don't forget your chargers!
